Although a relative newcomer to the mainstream bookbinding machinery sector, Risetec’s father-and-son management team represent the perfect partnership of experience and innovation. Chiarino Masuri has a background that includes working with some of the industry’s leading manufacturers at shop-floor, technical support and sales consultancy levels, where he formed an intimate understanding of the production and quality control issues that challenge customers as they work under constant pressure to ever tighter deadlines. His son, Diego, brings prodigious engineering insight and advanced CAD design skills to the equation and, together, they are responsible for some of the most significant developments in bookbinding technology of recent years.
These include the remarkable ONE•LINE> a fully automated binding and trimming line with seemingly endless capabilities that include perfect binding for soft covers, endpapering and backlining to produce book blocks for casing-in, pre-trimming and creasing of cover sheets (including with flaps), mark-reader verification of correct cover-to-book-block, self-setting 3-knife trimming for varying product runs, and much more. The Risetec ONE•LINE> allows binderies to achieve a faster return on investment as it expands their product range and/or replaces several older machines with one multi-purpose automated system. The SUPER D DeStacker is another of the Risetec innovations that promises to supercharge production efficiency as it brings a cost-effective and reliable solution to the persistent problem of de-stacking piles of pre-formed book blocks for individual downstream processing. The team at Risetec welcomes input from customers in the drive to track down and demolish production bottlenecks, wherever they occur.

ALL THINGS BOOK
Perfect Bindery Solutions at The Print Show 2018 | Stand G60
Perfect Bindery Solutions is the UK’s leading specialist supplier of advanced equipment for the manufacture of books in all varieties… layflat, soft and hard cover, sewn and/or perfect bound, in quantities from runs-of-one to hundreds of thousands. PBS continues its 100% support for what has become the UK printing sector’s premier equipment exhibition by hosting another raft of UK and World Launches of groundbreaking converting and value-adding equipment. These include:
SMYTH FX70-4D thread sewing machine featuring automated feeding for high speed processing of gathered and folded book sections into sewn book blocks ready for the application of soft or hard case covers. The FX70-4D has been developed to meet the increasing demand for a wider range of book formats in the medium-to-long run market and incorporates SMYTH’s latest automated set-up and error monitoring systems to ensure optimum production efficiency.
IML BR3-PUR single-clamp perfect binding machine with PUR nozzle for spine glue application, EVA sidegluing and OTABIND option for lay-flat books. A precision caliper measures the book thickness as it is fed in and automatically sets the clamp, milling and notching, spine gluing and cover feeder guide for fast and reliable run-of-one and short run on demand high quality book production.
IML DC904 on demand and short run board cutter. Ideal for cutting board components for case making with increased efficiency and accuracy, the new DC904 with programmatic controls can be operated beside an automatic case maker for continuous board strip production. Alternatively, it can be set to cut all 3 boards automatically ready to make the case. This is particularly suitable for On Demand book production. An optional bar code reader is available to automatically set the required board sizes from the printed cover material.
Also on live demonstration is the IML B122/S twin-head riveter/eyeletter with automatic feeder and, in addition, visitors will be able to discuss PBS’s complete production workflows for the manufacture of high quality luxury boxes, on-demand soft and hard cover books, and long-run soft and hard cover books.
