PBS Goes Large at TPS for Major Product Launches

180m2 Stand to Show Groundbreaking New Book Production System and Unique Box Making Solutions

Perfect Bindery Solutions has more than quadrupled its stand space at The Print Show, which takes place at The International Centre, Telford in the second week of October. The decision follows a run of outstanding results for PBS at the first two editions of TPS together with the announcement by innovative E05-001 Italian manufacturer IML Machinery that exciting major new systems will be ready for World Launch at this year’s event.

PBS Operations Partner Steve Giddins says: “The new systems from IML are going to change the way the short-run book production market works. TPS 2017 will be a watershed event – a real ‘I was there’ occasion.”

He continues: “The first new IML system is an automated single clamp On-Demand binding line that is totally flexible… feeding can be by hand or in-line, glue application can be wheel-and-pot or nozzle, PUR or hot-melt, and, of course, it has milling, side-gluing and cover feeding for standard paperbacks, too. But it can also, at the flick of a switch, perform end-papering and back-lining for book block production. This world-first is the ‘holy grail’ of the short-run book sector, especially since we will be demonstrating it in-line with an automated IML 3-knife trimmer – also a World Launch. And yet another new system from IML helps square the circle – an automated on-demand case maker, which means high quality conventional hard back books can be finished efficiently and reliably in small numbers. Together, these systems are the ultimate solution for on-demand soft cover and hard back book production in-house.”

Steve Giddins has form when it comes to product launches at TPS, having used the 2016 event at the NEC to introduce the Perfect Box Solutions range, also manufactured by IML:

“The response to those systems has been astonishing and we’re still being run off our feet with the business generated there. Pound-for-pound it was the best trade show PBS has ever attended. IML have got a real feel for market trends before they become generally apparent and short-run high quality boxes is a niche that has got massive potential. Of course we will be showing that equipment again this year. Last year proved to us that TPS is a good environment to meet the right people – people who mean business. The organisers have shown that they listen to the industry and will bend over backwards to make it work for us and I don’t see why this year should be any different. The International Centre is smart, modern and just the right size to give our industry the dedicated focus it deserves. The hotels and town, too, provide the kind of intimate setting that is perfect for our manufacturers to host overseas agents and guests. As for location, we already have a waiting list of customers booked to see the new binding line at a beta site on the continent, so Telford won’t be a problem – in fact, I don’t think anyone will be sorry to miss the congestion around Birmingham after our experience with the caravan show last year. Timing was another important factor for us in deciding to stick with the winning formula of 1Z0-052 TPS: you wouldn’t run a County Show at harvest time and November is ‘harvest time’ for most of our customers.”
